Applying to BASIS Independent McLean

Thank you for your interest in learning more about the process for admission to BASIS Independent McLean. Our process is selective and multi-step, ensuring we spend time knowing our applicants, their families, and vice-versa.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2018–19 school year through an Early and Regular Admissions cycle for preschool (Pre-K1: 3 year olds and Pre-K2: 4 year olds) through grade 12. We are also accepting applications for students interested in transferring into the 2017–18 school year on a rolling basis.

2018–19 Application

We are currently accepting applications for the 2018–19 school year for grades Preschool (3-year olds and 4-year olds) through Grade 10. To begin an application please, click here or below. 

 

The Early Admissions Cycle

Early Admissions accommodates families that have selected BASIS Independent McLean as their first choice. This option allows families to have their applications reviewed earlier and secures their child's seat for the fall in advance. 

Application Submission Deadline 
The deadline to submit an application for Early Admissions is on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 11:59 PM EST
Application Completion Deadline The deadline to complete an application for Early Admissions is Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11:59 PM EST. Please note that an application is deemed complete when all supplementary materials are received and required meetings are attended. 
Notification Date Applicants who have completed their application by the stated deadline of Thursday, November 30 will receive notification on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.
Commitment Date If an applicant has received a notification of acceptance for the 2018–19 academic school year and has decided to reserve their seat, they must submit a signed Enrollment Agreement and a non-refundable deposit of $3,000.00 on or before Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 5:00 PM EST.

The Regular Admissions Cycle

Application Submission Deadline 
The deadline to submit an application for Regular Admissions is on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST
Application Completion Deadline The deadline to complete an application for Regular Admissions is Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST. Please note that an application is deemed complete when all supplementary materials are received and required meetings are attended. 
Notification Date Applicants who have completed their application by the stated deadline of Wednesday, January 31, 2018 will receive notification on Thursday, March 1, 2018.
Commitment Date If an applicant has received a notification of acceptance for the 2018–19 academic school year and has decided to reserve their seat, they must submit a signed Enrollment Agreement and a non-refundable deposit of $3,000.00 on or before Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 5:00 PM EST.

2017–2018 Admissions

We continue to accept applications for the 2017–18 school year on a rolling basis (Rolling Admissions) for Pre-K2 (four-year-olds)–grade 10. And, we will accept transfer students, too. We aim to notify you of an admissions decision within three business days of receiving your completed application. We recommend starting the process now before grades fill for the current year. Admissions Steps and Requirements

    Attend an Informational Event (Optional)

    Though not required, we recommend you attend an informational event to learn about our program before applying.

    Optional for Early Learning Program–Grade 10.

    Complete and submit an online application along with a $50 application fee.

    Applications are now available.

    Required for Early Learning ProgramGrade 10.

    For 2017 Admissions: Submit unofficial transcripts.
    For 2018 Admissions: Submit 3 year history of transcripts and standardized test results.

    Required for Grades 110.

    Register online for your child's group play date (Preschool, Kindergarten and Grade 1) or entrance exam (Grades 210).

    Required for Early Learning ProgramGrade 10.

    Register online for your Family Meeting.

    All applicants and at least one parent and/or legal guardian must attend a 60-minute meeting where we will interview your child and answer any questions you may have.
