Mr. Biemesderfer

Curriculum Coordinator/Subject Expert Teacher

Mr. Biemesderfer graduated from Georgetown University in 2012 earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with minors in government and psychology, conferred magna cum lade.

Mr. Biemesderfer joins BASIS Independent McLean as a Subject Expert Teacher of economics and the coach of the speech and debate team. Mr. Biemesderfer will also work as the Curriculum Coordinator, handling assessment, scheduling, and aligning our work here with the expectations of the worldwide BASIS Schools network. Prior to joining BASIS Independent McLean, Mr. Biemesderfer was part of the founding faculty at BASIS DC, where he taught economics (including an AP pass rate above the national average) and served as a coach to nationally qualifying middle and high school speech and debate teams. Mr. Biemesderfer also handled assessments and compliance as the Curriculum Coordinator at BASIS DC. Prior to joining BASIS Schools, Mr. Biemesderfer worked as a teaching assistant in the Economics Department at Georgetown University where he first caught a passion for showing students the power of economic reasoning.

After working as part of the startup team at BASIS DC and serving as a member of the founding faculty, Mr. Biemesderfer has seen how pivotal and exciting a BASIS Schools’ first year can be, and is enthusiastic to hit the ground running as we strive for nothing short of excellence.

When not coaching the debate team to victory, you can often find Mr. Biembesderfer spending his weekends biking along the Washington and Old Dominion and Capital Crescent recreational trails.
