Ms. Crable earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with a concentration in painting and drawing and Art Education from James Madison University in 2009. She received the Peter and Marlene Coe Scholarship for outstanding achievement in Art Foundations. After her undergraduate studies, she relocated to Boston and went on to earn her Master of Arts degree in Art Education with an Arts Leadership concentration from Boston University. In 2015, Ms. Crable received the Game-Changer Award from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for outstanding service and innovative contributions to student achievement.
Prior to joining BASIS Independent McLean, Ms. Crable was the founding kindergarten through eighth grade Visual Arts teacher at a high-achieving public charter school in Massachusetts. She has also taught art and privately tutored in Rockingham County and Page County, Virginia.
In her own words, Ms. Crable is “so pumped” to “encourage students to believe in themselves as artists, support them as they take risks with their creativity and think critically about how we see our world.”
Ms. Crable was a Girl Scout for over 15 years; she gets excited about trains and loves to hike!
