Ms. Mudarris has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from King Saud University, an MBA in Finance from American University, a master's degree in Financial Economics and Public Policy from American University, and a master's degree in International Trade and Investement Policy from George Washington University. She is also currently finishing a master's degree in secondary mathematics education at George Washington University. This is her tenth year teaching mathematics in the U.S. and her first year with BASIS Independent McLean, and she is very excited to be part of such a dynamic learning community.
Her teaching career began in 2002 in D.C. Public Schools when she was awarded a D.C. Teaching Fellowship. She continued to work as a leader teacher when she transitioned to teach High School at Cesar Chavez High School for Public Policy in 2006. After a three year break to focus on her international trade degree, Ms. Mudarris returned to the classroom as a Special Education Lead Math teacher at Kingsbury Day School in 2015. Prior to teaching she worked at a bank in Saudi Arabia and at the World Bank in D.C.
Ms. Mudarris is thrilled to work at BASIS as a Subject Expert Teacher, where she can draw on the elements of teaching that have long been a part of her while working with talented students to sharpen their skills in math.
Ms. Mudarris currently lives in Virginia with her family. She loves reading, watching the ballet at the Kennedy Center, water-skiing, and snowboarding. Additonally, she tries to travel internationally as much as possible to expand her understanding of other cultures. So far, she has been to 31 countries.
