Week 5: Watercolors and Technical Problems

Apr 10, 2020

Hello Again! This week my project focus shifted from making visualizations of glass flutes to working with Diego Rivera’s Watercolors. Though I am doing the same thing in nature, for the watercolors it is much more complicated, as instead of adding annotations and making a visualization for one image, it is now for 3 of them. It also introduces a new feature to incorporate, which are layers. In this case, layers are images that show the watercolors under different wavelengths, and presents the possibility of more in-depth annotations. However, my progress was somewhat impeded by several technical issues, which prevented me from actually accessing my local server and making changes. Currently all the layers and annotation locations, as well as the metadata, are in place. Next week, I will be taking the graphs and data, and actually applying them to each annotation. After that, I will be learning to take raw data and convert them to graphs myself using React, a JavaScript library, and NVD3.
