Surveys and Websites — Week 7

Apr 27, 2020

I hope you all are doing well!

Another week, another update! This past week has been productive and busy. Let me tell you all about it.

This week at my internship, we continued with website development. I’ve started tweaking with the theme, working on choosing the best fonts to create a visually pleasing page. Another visual element I pursued was the backgrounds of the homepage slideshow. Working on a “technological vibe” and a sharp contrast between each panel, I knew a friend who’d be great at creating original works for the background. I think I was able to achieve the pop of color I sought for the slideshow. Now it’s up to company management to vet the overall presentation of the slideshow!

My independent research has been progressing as planned. I created two separate surveys on the same topic to investigate two sides to the same subject. I’m excited to see the results soon, I’ve kept my eyes shut from the answers! I’m still looking for participants to increase my sample size. If you haven’t completed the survey from my last blog yet, I’d love it if you’d help out! It’s completely anonymous, and it only takes 5 minutes.

Till next time,

Charles Tai

Charles, you have an internship that seems to be almost entirely unaffected by the COVID-19 crisis, since it’s all online and virtual. Does the creative element to your project make it easier or harder to work on? I feel like the open-endedness of “making the website look good” could be daunting.

True that! Although I do have to point out that our collaboration between team members has been slightly stifled by the remote working.

Personally, I like to think of the creative element is a double-edged sword. I love the fact that I am afforded the ability to inject my own vision and ideas into the website layout. At the same time, those ideas and vision won’t always align the same with my team members.

In the end, I love being creative with the website design so it’s great!
