Week 5 – Interview Prep

Apr 11, 2021

Hello again! Welcome to my fifth blog post! As always, I hope everyone’s doing great.

Compared to the last few weeks this week has been pretty slow… However, as I said in my blog post from last week, I have started another important component of my senior project, which is interviews! I was advised to attend a talk by Emeritus Professor Roger Dannenberg of Carnegie Mellon University. As a developer of several important projects around computer music including Audacity (a very popular audio editing software), he expressed his outlook on the future of music and Artificial Intelligence combined. After this I contacted him and informed him of my research project and interview request. Thankfully he said yes! (Though he preferred me to send him my questions through email instead of something like a Zoom meeting, which I did.)

Therefore, I have spent most of this week drafting questions related to my research topic for him to answer (and attending the talk of course). I will share much more about this in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! Thank you for reading, take care, & seeya next time!

Wow, this professor seems to be doing really interesting work to incorporate both computer science and music applications! I look forward to seeing his responses for your interview!

Interviews seem very very cool, especially as the one who interviews others. I think you can learn something from this interview such as how to ask questions from a interviewing person’s perspective and use it in answer questions in your future interviews. Good work!
