Spotlight Events

Hawk Talks: Visitors ask questions and hear responses from select faculty and/or administrators. School-day sessions include grade-level tours.

Tales of a Red-Tailed Hawk – Student Spotlight Event: Students share their experience as a Red-Tailed Hawk. Format may vary from an evening tour with students to a student panel.

Teacher Spotlight: A teacher gives an overview of his/her classes as well as the teaching philosophy and curriculum at BASIS Independent McLean, including a sample teach.

Open Houses

Interact with faculty in a mock classroom setting, explore our facility, and hear from our own students about their experience as a Red-Tailed Hawk. Open Houses provide insight into our advanced curriculum, extracurricular offerings, and showcase our classrooms, science labs student lounges, and more on campus!


Private tours are available by appointment. Contact us to schedule your tour and see our dynamic classrooms in action! Tours last approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

Shadow Days

Applicants are invited to join us on campus for a day in the life of a Red-Tailed Hawk. Beginning in mid-October and ending in April, these events are the best way for applicants to experience BASIS Independent McLean.

Note: offered only a few days a month, shadow days spots fill up quickly and are only available to applicants. Submit an application and contact us for more details.
