Information Sessions

A general information session where participants will receive an overview of the BASIS Independent Schools philosophy, mission, and our top-ranked curriculum.

Shadow Days

Prospective students in grades 5-10 who have applied to BASIS Independent McLean are invited to experience a day-in-the-life of a Red-Tailed Hawk. Beginning in mid-October and ending in April, these events are the best way for applicants to experience our school community.

Please note: Shadow days are only offered a few days a month and available spaces are only available to applicants and fill up quickly. Submit an application and contact us for more details.

Open Houses

Interact with faculty in a mock classroom setting, explore our facility, and hear from our own students about their experience as a Red-Tailed Hawk. Open Houses provide insight into our advanced curriculum, extracurricular offerings, and showcase our campus, including classrooms, science labs, student lounges, and more!

Tours

Private tours are available by appointment with a member of our admissions team. Contact us to schedule your tour and see our classrooms in action! Tours last approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

Spotlight Events

Admin Spotlight: Also known as Hawk Talks, visitors can ask questions and hear responses from select faculty and/or administrators. School-day sessions include grade-level tours.

Student Spotlight – Tales of a Red-Tailed Hawk: Students share their experience as a Red-Tailed Hawk. Format may vary from an evening tour with students to a student panel.

Teacher Spotlight: A teacher gives an overview of his/her classes as well as the teaching philosophy and curriculum at BASIS Independent McLean, including a sample lesson.
